Since getting back into writing my blog, after 2 months MIA, i’ve struggled to figure out what to write to you guys. Over the summer I poured my heart out about my skin & love life which were subjects close to my heart. As Im moving into a new chapter of my life and a new season I feel like I need to update you all as too what i’ve been up.
So as im sure your all dyeing to know ;p here’s whats been happening in the world of Gemma Bishop London :)
IVE STARTED MY NEW BRAND ‘WHAT A GEM’
This is something I’ve been working on in the background for a good year, designing my own embroidered jackets under my new label ‘what a gem’. As you know I work in fashion so am constantly surrounded by the latest emerging trends. Monogramming has been big for some time now and most brands have caught onto this but no ones quite done personalising jackets very well. I’ve always created accessories but longed to design clothes again so when I figured out the brands name the style of jackets quickly followed. The aim is to add these to this website soon so that you guys can pick a jacket style then add the name, font, colour etc.
For me I feel the Denim jacket is the most versatile piece you could own and a piece that you can style your own way. After designing very individual accessories for many years I wanted to start working on something that you can all wear any time. I’ll announce when I’ve launched them online via my instagram app so if your not following me there yet you can via this link
WE CELEBRATED MUMS 60TH IN CORFU
Mumma turned 60 this September and we celebrated in style with a party for her at home followed by flying to Corfu the day after. Not completely the best idea we’ve had as the house was in slight mayhem the next day, we all had major hangovers and had not packed, I therefore threw my summer wardrobe into a suitcase and hoped for the best!
We stayed at the Marbella Hotel in Corfu which was utter bliss, only 2.45hours to fly there and a short journey from the airport and leaving home at 2am meant we were on the beach having a cocktail at 11am… bliss.
Loved every minute of it, so much so I wanted to stay but like all holidays they have to come to an end. I came home with the fire in belly that a new season is ahead of us ready for my autumn winter wardrobe to kick off.
MY DAY JOB HAS TURNED UP A NOTCH
As you can see from these pictures I spend quite a bit of time in Paris these days and its a place that has special memories for me as i’ve been lucky enough to venture there for many years now. Being in the creative world you have to move with the times and let me tell you the fashion world (well my job) has gone from 0-100 in the space of a few months. I’ve been lucky enough to have a very talented girl Franki join our team and this has been a much needed gain to our business and to my sanity as let’s be honest I’ve been a Lone Ranger out in the field for some time now.
Some of you may think what do I actually do at work we’ll basically in a nut shell I make you want to spend your hard earned money on everything Kate spade. From setting up the showrooms in London & Italy which houses the future collections to traveling around the land ‘on the road’ (as we call it in the office) to making sure we look the part in boutiques, department stores etc
its the most rewarding job knowing you’ve made a store make money or knowing someone’s brought into a handbag line which you’ve pushed the buyers to invest in. It’s kinda like styling but on a bigger scale!
MY FLAT IS PENDING A MOVING IN DATE
So the moving date of my life has been pending for a good 8months as I brought a flat off plan meaning that I had to wait 9 months while it was being built. At present the only emails I get from the developer is ‘aiming for November/december’ (eyes rolling emoji) this is very frustrating for me as 1. I have no furniture & 2. I have no date to tell the furniture stores when they can deliver (and we all know how important delivery/free is)
I really do need to start getting some basics bits though i.e knives & forks umm a kettle as I can’t start the day without a cuppa. So once work gives me some kinda life back I’ll take a day trip or maybe a weeks stay at IKEA (can you imagine) Also anyone who owns a truck hit me up I may need your assistance, I promise I’ll be quick & buy you coffee or if the day gets really intense a large gin!!
END OF YEAR GOALS
Get back to the gym even if it’s once a week or month
Order some damn furniture for the flat
Take some time off work to be able to buy the furniture
move into the flat (probably Christmas Day at this rate)
Drink more wine as its the only thing getting me through
& spend more time with my loved ones… to all my fabulous friends I miss you and I promise ill be back soon most probably in my flat waiting for you all to visit :)
